On the afternoon of February 24, when Wang Liming, vice governor of Qinghai Province, and his entourage were in Haixi Prefecture to investigate the development of lithium industry, they went to Qinghai Zhongkejiexin High-tech Co., Ltd., located in Xitaijinel Salt Lake in Qaidam Basin. He visited and investigated the world's first "1000-ton high-purity lithium chloride" production line using salt lake brine as raw material.
This production line is one of the sub-projects of the key deployment project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, "extraction of several strategic elements from salt lake brine". The technology and demonstration project of extracting 1000-ton high-purity lithium chloride from salt lake brine is jointly undertaken by Qinghai Salt Lake Research Institute and Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, with independent intellectual property rights, and the ultimate goal is to build a 1000-ton production line of 4N high-purity lithium chloride products.
Qinghai Salt Lake Institute, which provides technical support for the project, completed the pilot test of separation and extraction of boric acid from salt lake brine by using Amur1416 extraction system as early as 1987. It was adopted in the "Seventh five-year Plan" national major scientific and technological research project "Dachaidan Lake Water Boric Acid and Lithium Chloride pilot Test". The product quality, output and cost meet the design requirements. In the past five years, in the face of the technical bottleneck of the key technology and key equipment of extracting lithium from brine in the comprehensive utilization of salt lake resources, Qinghai Salt Lake Institute and Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry jointly carried out technological innovation and tackling key problems. We have cooperated to develop a new extraction system that is technologically advanced and economically reasonable. In the process of promoting the implementation of the 1000-ton high-purity lithium chloride project, China Kejiexin Company, Qinghai Salt Lake Institute and Hefei General Machinery Research Institute jointly developed China's first centrifugal extraction device for lithium extraction from salt lake. the key technologies and equipment developed reached the international leading level in the process of pilot test and scale-up, which laid a good foundation for the construction of 1000-ton lithium chloride demonstration line. It also has important strategic significance for the comprehensive utilization of salt lake resources, especially for the extraction of strategic elements such as lithium and boron from salt lake resources.
In order to smoothly promote the industrialization of the project, Qinghai Salt Lake Institute contacted various investment and production partners and formally signed a contract with Shenzhen Jiexin Asset Management Co., Ltd. at the 2014 "Qinghai Trade Fair" in Qinghai Province and became an investment attraction project in Qinghai Province. In June of the same year, the two sides established Qinghai Zhongkejiexin High and New Technology Co., Ltd., which also marked the official launch of the industrialization project of "extracting 1000-ton high-purity lithium chloride from salt lake brine".
After nearly a year of project preparation, equipment ordering, installation and commissioning, the project was officially put into production and commissioning on December 24, 2015, and the entire production line was completed on January 21, 2016, with the quality index of lithium chloride products reaching 99.5%. The world's first "kiloton high purity lithium chloride" production line has been successfully built. In the next three months, the production line will gradually improve the process parameters and technical indicators, realize the production of 4N grade high purity lithium chloride and pass the acceptance of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
During Wang Liming's inspection, Duan Dongping, deputy director of Qinghai Salt Lake, reported on the construction and progress of the project on the spot. Wang Liming hopes that as the Qinghai Salt Lake Institute of the national team, with its own characteristics and advantages, based on the rich salt lake resources in the Qaidam Basin, strengthen scientific and technological progress and technological innovation, and promote the transfer, transformation and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements.
